THE MAKING OF SUCCESSFUL CAREER (2)

...continued from last post

Support your goals with these seven pillars of successful planning:

Pace – You know your passion and the destination you are heading towards, so get well intimately and ultimately connected with them (your passion and destination) to get starting the procedures of goal setting. The goals you are setting must be MEASURABLE. The goals must be those that are worthwhile. They must be assessable to your passion. Your goals must be set to agree to the same motion with your mission per action.

Period – Your goals must be TIME FRAMED – timely and time-bound. In setting your goals, you must develop the ability of thinking relationally. You must be able to see ahead the present and be able to see relationship between seemingly disjointed events and information. (Discovery they say, is seen what everybody else has seen and thinking what nobody else has thought). This will allow you to discover opportunities in time thus, setting goals to time.

Precision – In your goal setting enterprise, you most be as meticulous as possible. Set goals that are CLEAR AND PRECISE. Analogically, “I want to take enough water daily this month” this is not clear enough (I want to) and not precise (enough water). Do not set goal of this kind, rather “I shall take seven cups of water daily this month” (“shall” and “seven” make this goal clear and precise respectively). Therefore, your goals must be clear enough to pinpoint precision.

Practicability – Impossible is nothing. However, your goals must not be abstract; they must be LOGICAL AND FEASIBLE. Although, I admonish people to dare impossibility and attain the unattainable but in goal setting you must mind your capacity and qualities at hand. Set goals that are answerable to your passion.

Penning – Properly considering all these aforementioned pillars, your goals are now well developed to comfortably permit succinct enumeration. Mind you, before applying all these aforementioned pillars you must have made a rough list of the goals – the list you are going to weigh above pillars with. That is your goals must be PENNABLE right from the out set. Now the rough list is well scrutinized, write your goals down boldly and orderly.

Practice – Now your goals are ready. For what? ACTION! Charge your being for efficient and result-oriented action. Action is the knock that drives in the nail of accomplishment in one’s career. Act on those well-developed goals one after the other with focus, perseverance, patience, persistence and determination. That is one step at a time. Your passion can’t wait any longer. It is dying for display. Act now! Act right!

Prayer – “Work and pray.” Believe in yourself. However, your ability alone is not enough. Therefore, support your goals and actions with DIVINE BACKING and have faith. Prayer is the master key that locks and unlocks any door that proofs thwarting.

PREPARED
The undisputable fact is that we are in the computer age; where little recognition is attributed to physical labor, rather much accolades go with mental proficiency. However, the quality upstairs informs the physical performance. The skills you are equipped with is the brain for your career. It determines your productivity and your portion in your career. Therefore, don’t you think they need to be developed and you need to acquire more?

Skill acquisition is the gaining and the development of physical and mental proficiency for improved, refined and timely productive accomplishments in one’s endeavor. Without the appropriate skills, one remains below the ladder in his career. The world today belongs to the relative thinkers and refined performers. Skill acquisition is the tonic one takes to fortify himself with the required competence in his career. Skill acquisition holds the package that will deliver one with the confidence needed to triumph in his career. Attend seminars, workshops, conference and take professional courses that are relevant to your career. Make every experience educational. Seek information; it is the strength of your career. Listen to news, read newspapers, magazines, biographies, books, surfing the internet and associate. By these you are replete with information. Information harness you easily and timely with opportunities while how equipped (skillful) you are determines how effective you convert them to accomplishments.

So, be informed today and be equipped with required and relevant skills, then you are great in your career.

PACT
Of every resource, human is the greatest – for it opens doors to every other resource. Therefore, you must build mutual links with other positive minds. Develop upwardly motivated networks. These (links) are the connective tissues of your career that connect you and your passion with other destiny-conscious folks for vibrant and mutually rewarding relationship. Develop the habit of moving towards places where onward mobile folks relate. Places like seminars, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, logical ceremonies, right restaurants, constructive associations, cinemas and the like.

Success has a way of connecting with one another. If you want to become an enviable achiever in your career, harness a means of forming alliance with purpose-conscious people and build extensive network where you can have access to knowledge, ideas, constructive advices, inspirations, motivations and empowerments that will move you up the ladder of success to fulfillment palace in your career.

THE MAKING OF SUCCESSFUL CAREER

Who are you? Where are you? Why are you? What do you live for? Before we continue in today’s expedition – The Making of Successful Career, I will want you to take your time, muse on these questions, and see how efficient you can to provide constructive answers to them. However, for resourceful help check back on our past expeditions; “What is Life About?” “Once King” “Zero to Hero 1&2” and “Precept for the Next Level” from the blog (http://da-revelation.blogspot.com) archive.

Now let us welcome ourselves powerfully on board to another stardom-driven expedition. Today we shall be discussing on “The P’s of Career Prosperity”. You are on a mission on this stage – earth and it’s (mission) purpose is your right to fulfillment in life.

Friend, how do the names of famous people beat our eardrum? Do they beat it magically that we want more? Do the names excite our imagination with positive thoughts and images that we crave to be like them? Yes! When names like: Michael Adenuga, Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and Michael Power sound to our mind, they make us believe that “Michael” is not an ordinary name but a name with inherent influence that automatically showers fame on the bearer. Therefore, most times, we because of this name our children such name - “Michael”. Also, famous folks like; Barack Obama, Williams Shakespeare, Ronaldo, Obafemi Awolowo and the like make us choose their names as alias and even address ourselves as such – “Am the Shakespeare of our time”. This is because we want people to see us as possessing the qualities of these people. But I tell you, name does not define a person rather one defines himself and gives his name the meaning it carries.

Barack Obama today is a name everybody wants to associate with in one way or the other. This man, Barack Obama was a son of nobody in some years back, but he – the man in the name rouse to the occasion of his life and touch his individuality. And today Barack Obama is no longer a name but a brand - a phenomenon. This shows how great you are if only you could arouse the man inside you to rise up to the occasion of your life, defines himself, and give your name a magical meaning.

It is an established fact; we admire people like; Barack Obama, Usain Bolt, Bill Gates and the Michaels mentioned above, not for anything but for their respective accomplishments in their careers. Friend, let’s discard the belief that these people are made specially with unusual abilities. They were all once “Mr. Nobody” but they became “Mr. Somebody” by their choice to rise up and make constructive decision about their life; they decided to tread on the path that gave their individuality the ability that made their qualities strived beyond the usual to unusual accomplishments – making them unusual special people. However, the relieving news here is that these qualities are intrinsic and acquirable. That is everybody has got the qualities and possibilities to become SOMEBODY.

Yes! We are on mission on “this stage” so we need to act fast. We have got career to build. Succeeding in it and backing it up with laudable accomplishments to become unusual achiever, we need putting some recipes that have proven result-oriented over the years. The recipes that those known heroes have adopted into their career that made them record holders.

Hero in making here we go:
PASSION
There are different kinds of career holders:
Ø Those that are driven by pay
Ø Those that are driven by pain
Ø Those that are driven by passion
Be driven by passion and see for yourself how your career will be placed on upward course to overtake any other driven forces (pain and pay). As mission is to vision so, passion is to individuality. As a man’s vision decides his mission and his mission is the platform on which he develops his career, so also, a man’s individuality decides his passion while the passion stays put him in the career (passion is a subject to individuality).

Passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm towards a venture. Check every achiever in any field, passion is the key to their success. Passion is the virtue that empowers your qualities to dare the unusual in your career and overcome the invincible. Calvin Coolidge wrote; “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press on” has solved and will always solve the problems of humans race.” Passion is the heart with the beats that pump one’s career with the required persistence and determination. Passion is an invincible driven force that builds indomitable spirit through patience, perseverance and persistence.

However, educationists and employers often accolade credentials but this will never take the place of the intangible driven force of passion. Above 80% of all the great achievers (heroes) known were underdogs during there school days. This is what David Olaoye saw while he wrote; “I don’t salute talent or education but pay tribute and doff my hat to passion because it is the force behind the well of progress.” Be driven by passion today, then you are on the upward trajectory in your career to record holders’ countryside.

PLANNING
The ability to see ahead, think ahead and plan ahead the present is another vital recipe that move one ahead in his career. As a career holder, where you are going is nothing like where you are coming. As to this, there are things (goals) you must set in place per time to get “There”. You must set goals both short and long term’s. Goal setting is the sense of your career. It is meant to perceive the stimuli (opportunities) and response to them.
